500 Users – A Pivotal Milestone

When we launched IgnitionDeck, just 11 months ago, we did so with very mild expectations. IgnitionDeck spawned out of necessity, and while we thought that others might have similar needs, we were hesitant to bank on that.

But we had to try. So on October 8th, we sent out an email to the 264 people on our notification list and prepared to call it a night, hoping that we’d wake up to a handful of orders so that we could get the beta test underway.

Then an email came in, and another, and another. Suddenly it’s 4am and we’re responding to bug reports, making changes on the fly, trying not to crash before every email had been answered.

When we awoke the next day, our exhaustion was immediately replaced by excitement as we checked our inbox and saw the summation of the prior evening’s activity. We were, and continue to be, overwhelmed and energized by your support.

The point of this story is that we didn’t know if the market was ready for another crowdfunding project, but we had to try. We had hoped for the community’s support, but had no idea whether or not it would merit keeping the project alive.

Well, here we are, with such an exciting milestone to announce: IgnitionDeck is officially 500 Supporters Strong!

That, we feel, is a sufficient answer to the question above. A resounding YES.

In the grand scheme of things, 500 may not seem magical, but to us, it’s a sign that we’re on the right track, and that the past year of our lives spent dedicated to this project has not been in vain.

For that, we thank you, our amazing community of supporters.

To continue the festivities, we’re preparing something special for everyone that has supported the project thus far. Over the past few months, we’ve heard your requests for a custom IgnitionDeck theme, and now, we’re ready to make that happen.

We have a few ideas of our own, but we also want to hear from you.

We’ll take your comments and work them into our special theme, codenamed Theme 500, with a planned release this fall.
