Fundify Joins the IgnitionDeck Family

In October of 2011, we launched IgnitionDeck with the single goal of helping entrepreneurs like us raise money without having to ask permission from the fundraising (VC’s) and crowdfunding (Kickstarter) gatekeepers. While we hoped to start a movement, we were not intending to linger for long, as we had other ideas that required nurturing.

But in the world of business, and life in general, things don’t always go as planned.

Fast forward three years and self-hosted crowdfunding has become a beacon of light for creators everywhere, and IgnitionDeck has taken on a life of its own far beyond our wildest expectations.

The original IgnitionDeck product, aimed at helping single projects get off the ground, has enabled Chris Roberts to raise the largest self-hosted crowdfund in history, has helped bands stop dreaming and start touring, and has even helped passionate non-profits raise money for cancer research.

Once this mission was realized, we then turned our sights to IgnitionDeck Enterprise, a product that would enable a whole new class of crowdfunding entrants, this time for the purpose of building platforms that would act as a force multiplier within the self-hosted crowdfunding space.

During this time, the talented Astoundify team, consisting of designer Adam Pickering and developer Spencer Finnell, built and released a similar product that would help turn the crowdfunding industry on its head once more.

Their free crowdfunding plugin, paired with the gorgeous Fundify theme, created a unique offering at an incredible price point that helped bring even more momentum to the cause that is self-hosted crowdfunding. From that point forward, both product teams and customers would benefit from the existence of multiple options in the space.

Over the course of the past year, our teams have had multiple interactions, and we’ve had the opportunity to share war stories and visions with each other. During one of these recent conversations, as we were sharing our vision for the future of IgnitionDeck, we began toying with the idea of bringing Fundify into the IgnitionDeck product suite. Within weeks, both teams knew it was the right thing to do, agreed on the terms, and shook hands.

Today we’re pleased to announce that the Fundify theme and plugin are joining the IgnitionDeck product family. We’re grateful for the Astoundify team’s trust in our stewardship, and look forward to further developing and integrating the product under our umbrella.

In the interim, no immediate changes will be made to the product, and Fundify customers will continue to receive the same outstanding support they’ve always received. We will continue to share more information over the coming weeks, and look forward to serving you.

Welcome to the IgnitionDeck family!
