Update Regarding Google Analytics and IgnitionDeck

As some of you know, Google’s Universal Analytics will stop processing data on July 1, 2023 in favor of their Google Analytics 4 offering.

IgnitionDeck has provided a simple input field for Google’s Universal Analytics integration into its themes for some time. With Google’s change, our team has decided to remove this input field from our themes. This sort of integration is better served by a plugin like Google’s Site Kit plugin or a Code Snippet Manager like WP Code Box.

The GA4 change also affects the optional Google eCommerce module located in IgnitionDeck Commerce. We are working on an update for that module, however, and will continue to work with IgnitionDeck.

What this change means for IgnitionDeck customers

  • With the removal of the Google Analytics input field in our themes, our customers should take the steps of installing one of the recommended plugins above or directly input the code into your child theme’s functions.php file or similar.
  • If you are using the Google E-Commerce module, you need to update your module settings.

We’re still working on the exact date for this release so check back here—that said, we encourage our customers to make the change ASAP.
